PERILAKU PENCEGAHAN PENULARAN PADA PENDERITA TUBERKULOSIS PARU DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS SIKUMANA KOTA KUPANG
Abstract
Behaviour is a person’s response or reaction to an outside stimulus that occurs through the process of a stimulus to the organism. This study aims to explore the transmission prevention behaviour of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at the Sikumana Public Health Centre area in Kupang City.A qualitative study was employed in this study with phenomenological approach. The method used was in-depth interviews with 6 participants using the snowball sampling technique. Based on thematic analysis, lacking of approaches of behavioral transmision prevention in tuberculosis patients was found, which includes: lack of knowledge about tuberculosis, prevention of transmission through separation of proper utensils, insufficient transmission precautions through restriction of household contacts, inappropiate cough etiquette and disposing of phlegm, disobedience to wearing masks at home, and poor air circulation and ventilation of the house. Results suggested that improving education about tuberculosis continuously to survivals and conducting regular home visits tuberculosis are crucial to evaluate the prevention programs by medical practitionaires.
