AbstractABSTACT Laka, Bonifasia Carrolina,2019. Combination Activity of Candlenut Oil (Aleurites Moluccana L.) and Soybean Oil (Glycine Max (L.) Merrill) as Hair Tonic in Male Rabbits (Oryctolagus Cuniculus) Pembimbing I : Christin Aprillian Beama, S. Farm., M. Farm., Apt Pembimbing II: Drs. Aloysius Masan Kopon,M.Si Hair is a hair that comes out of the skin layer formed from keratin. Hair not only serves to protect the body but also hair acts as one of the supporting appearance, if hair falls, the protective and aesthetic function for humans is reduced, then the hair must be treated in order to remain strong. Hazelnut oil and soybean oil are widely known to have benefits as a hair grower or Hair Tonic. Candlenut oil and soybean oil contain compounds that play a role in hair growth, fatty acids from hazelnut oil and the content of genistein isoflavones and fatty acids from soybeans that play a role in the process of hair growth. This study aims to determine the activity of a combination of hazelnut oil and soybean oil made in 3 emulsion formulations as hair tonic on hair growth in male rabbit test animals. Of the three formulas with their conclusions: formula I 15% hazelnut oil: 15% soybean oil, formula II 10% hazelnut oil: 20% soybean oil, and formula III 20% hazelnut oil: 10% soybean oil, the most active result of growing hair on male rabbit is formula III with an average hair growth of 4.53mm - 9.46mm. It can be concluded that the main role in hair growth is affected by palmitic acid rather than linoleic acid because of the small molecular structure and small space constraints than linoleic acid which has a large molecular structure and large space constraints. The physical stability of the emulsion sedan for each formula shows physical instability at room temperature storage due to phase separation.
